 How do your products use or challenge conventions and how do they represent social groups or issues?
 

Media mediates reality via the use of recognized codes and conventions and the credibility or realism of a media text may be judged by the degree to which the audience identifies with what is being portrayed. Media students identify three categories of codes that may be used to convey meanings in media messages: technical codes, which included camera techniques, framing, depth of field, lighting and exposure and juxtaposition; symbolic codes, which refer to objects, setting, body language, clothing and colour; and written codes in the form of headlines, captions, speech bubbles and language style.

By the term 'code' we mean a communication system which contains elements which have an agreed meaning and which can be combined according to agreed rules. This could be the English language, Morse Code, a traffic policeman's hand signals, film etc.

With the accompanying codes and convention of any media items the groups of onlookers perceive and recognize changed items. It as such sorts media items as indicated by their regarded class.

Since we were doing Acoustic-Pop so me and my gathering individuals as a whole, inquired about the codes and traditions of our relegated sort. We looked after some of the codes and convention of acoustic-pop yet then again likewise broke a considerable measure the customary type limits.

In order to create our featured music video, tools (known as codes) of the music video maker  trade, such as music, lyrics , costumes, camera angles and framing were used. These are only a few examples of music video codes. It is the way that these are used (which is known as conventions) that helps us understand which characters are playing each role in the story. Indeed, the exact way I use these tools which encourage us to like or dislike a view and also help us to understand how important each character is in the story.

Conventions are the typical things audience expects to see in a media product. Before making the music video, I did a detailed research to find out my generic convention.

Our story revolves around the life of our main character. It is based on the feelings of a guy who returned to his native land and recalls his past memories, the memories of his childhood that he had spent in that area. Instead of doing any experiments we have followed the conventions in our music video.  Our Genre is  'Acoustic-Pop'.

The set brief that I chose for my advanced portfolio was music video. The genre of my music video is 'Acoustic-Pop'. This ancillary tasks involved developing a post acrd advertisement and a website. The production of my music video along with the ancillary task goes in line with the codes and convention established by the six media giants.

 Before begin with the shoot I did some research on the 'Acoustic Pop' videos and here are some of the codes and convention that I used in my video while going through different music video of same genre I found.
