Localization
- Portugal is located in the southwestern part of Europe in the Iberian Peninsula and it includes islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
- The Portuguese territory has a total area of 92,090 km ². It is bound in the north and east by Spain and in the south and west by the Atlantic Ocean, and it has two independent regions: the Azores and Madeira.
- The country's name comes from its second largest city, Oporto, whose Latin name was Portus Cale.
- The capital of Portugal is Lisbon.
