About Dudley Laws

Dudley Laws was born in Jamaica in 1934 and arrived in Canada after living in England. Laws worked as a welder in his early 70s. He also ran a printing company before coming an  immigration consultant, a job he held until he was hospitalized because of cancer and kidney disease.

What did Dudley Laws Do?

Laws was an activist.  In 1988, after a number of black men were shot and killed in conflict with the Toronto area Police,  Laws co-founded the Black Action Defence Community  {the BADC} along with Charles Roach, Sherona Hall and Lennox Farrell. The group pushed for independent police oversight and Laws became a tough and vocal critic of the police force.

How Did Laws Influence My Life?

Laws influenced my life by bringing attention to police violence in Canada after the death of 16 year old Marlon Neal.  It made me think that it could of been me who died because I was accused of being involved in gang violence.

I'm happy to be living in the 21st Century where police in Canada can be suspended or fired for killing any teens or kids accused of being involved in gang violence.

THAT IS ALL FOR MY PRESNTATION ON DUDLEY LAWS!

THANK YOU! :)
