Question 3

Our production company logo is an image of two grey mountains with the title written below ‘Eververse Productions’ it is on a white background with a black border on the top and bottom. We chose this because we believed it looked sophisticated and looked a lot like a professional movie identity. For this, we took inspiration from ‘Paramount’ productions and their idea of using a mountain and a name that hinted at the image; ‘Eververse’ linking to ‘Everest’.

A production company is a company that has major earnings form things like studio investors, private investors or earnings. They also have done or have been involved in a form of big budget production sometime in the past. Production companies tend to work with high quality actors, producers and directors of films and allow them aid in production of their movies etc.

A company likely to produce our film, in my opinion would be ‘New Line Productions’. I think this because I did some research into the company and found that they produce a few thrillers with similar sub-genres to ours. This company have many distributions, including the United Kingdom, this would therefore be appropriate for us because it is an organisation close to home allowing us to have a wide range of strong communication methods with them. This company has dealt with productions like ours before, meaning they will be able to help us by looking at our opening and deciding what we could need to change to help it become more successful. At the same time as funding our production. This company produced the film ‘The Conjuring’ this means they would be likely to produce a film like our thriller because it contains the same sort of content, given the fact there is a mysterious atmosphere to the film that scares the audience but at the same time ours will be a more realistic film as oppose to ghosts.  To market our film, they will most likely display it on billboards, busses, adverts that are going to get the attention of the targeted audience; even through the use of social media and therefore grabbing their attention and intriguing and helping us to make more of a profit even though they will be taking a share of their own.

Funding for a project like ours will come from the production company because given it is our first film, we will be unlikely to have many funds of our own for production. We may also have to take out business loans that we will pay back as we begin to make money from the film’s hopeful success.

In our title sequence, we made sure to include the main people involved in creating our opening sequence. We included the characters, the director, the editor and the production company. The reason these titles were included was because they are the main people that put together this project, without one of them the opening sequence would not have turned out the same. There is no specific reason for the order of these but the most important two have been placed after each other (production company then director). The reason for the titles in the opening sequence is because it allows people to recognise who is involved. If a well-known actor or director’s name is displayed, then people will know already what kind of film it is going to be.

Our film could be closely related to the movie ‘Scream’ this is because it shares some specific qualities. Our killer could be easily compared with the killer from Scream, they both wear all black and have masks to hide their identity and strike fear into their victims and audience whilst at the same time intimidating them. Also, the victims in this film are usually on their own when the killer comes for them, this is because they are at their weakest when they are alone. Scream soon after release became a popular hit film, they later continued to make another 3 films making a 4-film set. Considering the likeness of our film and Scream, we hope that ours becomes just as successful as scream did.
