Self-Knowledge

Self-Knowledge in psychology is the information an individual draws upon when answering the question "What am I like?".

To answer this quesiton with self-knowledge requires ongoing self-awareness.

Self-knowledge is the knowledge of oneself

which guides the development of one’s self-concept.

Self-knowledge informs us of our mental

representations of ourselves, which contain attributes.

The self-concept is thought to have three primary aspects:

The cognitive self (knowledge)

The felt self (emotions)

The active self (behavior)
