Rohit Varma, M.D (M.P.H) knows what he is talking about. As the director of the Glaucoma Service at the USC Eye Institute, he helps train the next generation of glaucoma specialists. He is a pioneer in using imaging technology and molecular genetics to further understand the disease. His work has led to new clinical tests and treatments for glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness that strikes more than two million Americans. As chairman of Aravind's Department of Ophthalmology, he serves as a medical consultant and faculty member responsible for directing research on birth defects and adult eye diseases in India.
