Richlite is made from FSC® certified 100% post-consumer recycled paper.

First, the pre-dyed paper is run through a resin bath and run vertically to dry. The paper is then re-rolled and cut into sheets. Cut sheets are stacked, heated and hydraulically pressed. Heat sets the resin to create the durability Richlite is known for.

  • Sheets can be pressed from 1/8” to 3” thick.
  • Uses EcoBind™ NAUF thermoset resin.
  • Excess resin is used in a catalytic converter as an energy source for the machinery.  This makes for a 99% non-emitting process.
  • FSC® Certified
  • GreenGuard Certified
  • NSF Certified Options
  • Contributes to LEED® Credits

Care & Maintenance

Routine Cleaning and Upkeep

  • Wipe up with a damp sponge and natural dish soap on a regular basis.
  • Howard Naturals Wood Cleaner and Polish can be used to renew the luster.
  • We recommend using the Howard Naturals once a month or even less frequently, because repeated applications may create a wax buildup on the countertop.

Removing Stains

  • Generally speaking, Richlite resists stains quite well.
  • With stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive household cleaner.

Repairing Scratches and Burn Marks

  • We recommend the use of cutting boards, hot pads and trivets to protect the surface from potential damage.
  • Light scratch marks and burn marks can be refinished using a Scotch-Brite® pad (#7447/Red Color) on an orbital sander.
  • In order to avoid lighter areas with a countertop section, lightly refinish the entire section.

General Precautions

  • Avoid prolonged contact with raw meat juice (liver) and high-alkaline fruits, vegetables, or soaps.
  • Richlite's lighter color tops are more likely to show stains than darker colors.
  • Cover the surface with a protective sheet when installing tile around countertop areas. Grout will affect the color.
  • Avoid using bleach products or abrasive powdered cleaners. It is good to avoid using the abrasive side of sponges as this may also scratch the surface of a Richlite countertop.
