Lightning Talks last Five Minutes
No, SERIOUSLY.
How long?
- Can last four minutes...three minutes… two minutes is fine too.
- Six minutes is not ok.
- Longer than five minutes
- you are in trouble… someone will likely stop you and people will be annoyed.
- If no one stops you after five minutes, the moderator isn’t doing their job.
Topics
- Can be about anything
- Usually a technical topic
- Make a point and explain it
Timing
- Try to create the “setup” in the first minute or two.
- Present your main point as early as possible.
- Time for questions at the end is a huge plus.
- Practice with yourself several times to ensure that you don’t have too much material.
