Diagnostic service codes are generated by a machine’s onboard computer system, typically referred to as the Engine Control Unit (ECU), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), or similar systems, depending on the type of equipment. These systems continuously monitor various components, sensors, and performance parameters of the machine during operation. When a fault or abnormality is detected, the system records it as a diagnostic code.
