Gary Fixter - Soccer Rondos

Gary Fixter- Rondo Coaching

The football rounds are exercises in which several players are placed in a defined way, it can be square, rectangle, pentagon, circle ... and they pass the ball between them. They will try to maintain possession of the ball and will have an opponent or several who will try to steal the ball or lead them to error and in the event of loss or theft they will change positions with the defending player.

This type of exercise is carried out in fields with certain dimensions where the external players, the ball holders, usually have a fixed position, although it can be a little mobile, and they are in numerical superiority and where we also find a defender who will try to steal the ball.

The number of players that we can find in the rounds is varied, 3 against 1.3 against 2, 3 against 1 plus a pivot, 4 against 1, 4 against 2, 5 against 3, 4 against 2 plus 1 pivot, 5 against 1, 5 vs. 2 with neutral, 2 vs. 2 plus a pivot, 3 vs. 3 plus a neutral, 6 vs. 2, etc. Everything that comes to mind or that we observe that occurs in a game

Types of Rondos

Regarding the types of rounds that we can find, there are 3: positional, transitions and changes of orientation.

* Positional rondos: They are Rondós where some players remain in fixed positions. Normally the only objective is to maintain the position. They are usually the least demanding.

* Transition rounds: Normally, when possession is lost (or when it is recovered) there are some principles that must be followed (for example, immediate recovery after loss of ball, or recomposition of the positional structure after recovery, instead of counterattack).

* Changes in orientation: As the name implies, it consists of moving the game to another area after meeting certain guidelines (for example, after four touches in one area, changing the ball to another, since the rival usually accumulates on the strong side ).

Making rounds we train different components such as tactical, technical and physical.

* Tactical Component:

    -Offensive: Walls, supports, offsets, game control, game pace, orientation changes. The pivots will make permanent marks and supports.

    -Defensive: anticipation, entry, interception, coverage and pressure.

* Technical Component: Control, pass, driving, interception, oriented control, feint, entry, load ...

* Physical Component: They work resistance, speed, reaction speed and explosive force. It depends on the space and the number of players and the execution time.
