Gary Fixter Soccer training session

The football training session is a set of exercises that are interrelated in order to achieve one or more goals. Traditionally, it is subdivided into different parts. Here the exercises find a progression in terms of complexity and intensity, from low to high during the session.

With the development of the training and its study from a more scientific and sociological perspective, in turn more proposals emerged that changed or gave a new vision about its application in the field.

With all this, the training session changed a lot over the years, where it was passed in a more traditional way, extracted from athletics, where the conditional aspects prevailed, sessions very extensive in time and far removed from the reality of the game , to more current training sessions where quality is valued over quantity, where loads are individualized and where technical-tactical work is the axis on which it is developed.

Session types

With the framework of the competition continuously and immediately, we come up with different currents and methodologies on which to fit the training session. Along with this distribution, we must also take into account the day of rest and the adaptation of the session to the moment in which we find ourselves.

According to the type of task

Session to meet the players or the team

They are sessions that aim to know the technical, tactical and physical state of the players or, other characteristics of them. In this session, the trainer gets very important information to establish the objectives of the next sessions and, in turn, to be able to establish certain common objectives in the medium term and the schedule to be used. This type of training session is mainly used during training periods or when the coach arrives new to a club. They will be made up of specific and competitive tasks, to extract more and better information.

Learning session

They are sessions where the main objective is the assimilation of tactical and technical concepts at the individual level and also at the group level. This type of training session serves to establish guidelines to follow and develop depending on the rival. The exercises are of a low intensity and density level and are performed to represent specific situations of the game that we want to reproduce or are going to be given before a specific rival. It is important that these tasks are performed with a low level of fatigue that does not adversely affect concentration.

Repetition session

Its specific objectives are:

* Develop or maintain the level of technical and motor gestures.

* Perfect individual and collective technical-tactical behaviors.

* Integrate technical-tactical processes under conditions of fatigue and high physical demands.

This type of session is greater when it is high within our weekly training unit. They are exercises known to all members and do not contain new themes for the team and are carried out in order to correct, automate or maintain behaviors that occur in the competition. Many repetitions are performed in order to improve and perfect quickly and without altering the correct rhythm of execution
