Kinnek was started in 2012 in New York City, by Rui Ma Karthic Sridharan who noticed that small businesses were stuck in a no-man's land when it came to purchasing for their businesses. They require bulk or customized orders that consumer-facing storefronts can't offer. However, businesses can't run the costly and complex procurement processes used by large businesses.

Kathrik graduated from the Wharton School of Business undergraduate program at University of Pennsylvania in 2007 majoring in Computer Science and Finance. After Penn, Kathrik was the lead architect at of production/ research systems at AQR Capital Management, a global hedge fund.
Karthik Sridharan
Rui received a degree in Computer Engineering from Cornell University. He is a UX Engineer, and formerly was an operations consultant.
