What To Do When Your Watch Is Broken
Regardless if it is a regular watch or a luxury watch, there are times when they get damaged. You probably dropped it, sat on it, or it got wet and it wasn’t waterproof. That’s where our knowledge or lack of when it comes to doing a watch repair. Here are some things that you can do if your watch is ever broken and you need to have it repaired.
Things you can do
- The first thing that you can do is check what’s wrong with it. Naturally, you own the watch, you know what caused it to get damaged. If it fell in the water, then you already know that might be the reason.
- Since you have an idea of what happened, you can pretty much do some repairs on your own if possible. Let’s say the watch stopped moving. It could be because it ran out of batteries. It could be a case where the screen is cracked or the strap is damaged. You can simply buy the parts and changed them on your own.
- If it is a case where you don’t know what’s wrong, it is time to had to an expert and have it fixed. These repair guys know what they’re doing and they can give you an idea of what to do. Should you avail of their repair services, that’s up to you.
- There could also be a case where the expert will tell you alternatives. These alternatives could be just buying a new watch. This is probably because the watch is too damaged to be repaired. It is also a case where it is cheaper to buy a new watch, than pay for the repairs.
Just a few things to keep in mind
- There are watch brands that have repair services. Let’s say you bought an expensive luxury watch and it happened to break. These brands can have their own service centers and you can do your part and have it repaired for free or at least with some kind of incentive. Think of it as something like a warranty.
- If your watch isn’t that expensive, maybe it is better to just buy a new one and have it fixed that may cost money and might take longer. There are watches out there that are cheap because their sole purpose is to sell time. While they may not get damaged right away, it could still happen, so it could be better to just buy a new one.
When your watch is broken, you can fix it on your own when you know what the problem is or just have it fixed with the help of an expert.
