WHAT IS GO?
Played on a grid of black lines
A little bit of history
- Originated in China during Zhou Dinasty 2500 years ago
- Spread to Korea and Japan in 500 AD and 700 AD
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
- Over 70million players worldwide
- International Go Federation with more than 70 countries
Basic rules
- Objective: to surround more territory than your adversary
- Stones/Groups must have at least one liberty
- Or they are captured
- Stones form "Chains" or groups when connected by the lines of the board
BASIC RULES

"Ko rule": Players are not allowed to make a move that returns the game to the previous position
- A player may pass. If the two players pass the game ends and has to be scored
- Score is calculated counting captured stones and empty areas surrounded by each player own stones
