How will it work?

Your days will follow a similar format as they did when we were on campus. All that should change is how we connect with everyone.

Attendance

We will be taking attendance three times a day.

In the morning right at 9:00 am, once again after lunch, and one final time at 4:45.

Students are required to be on Discord the entire day.

During the course of any lecture, guest or otherwise, all students must have their cameras on. This will allow us to quickly ensure you are participating.

Lectures

Here are some important points about the lectures

  • Cameras on
  • The lectures are automatically recorded and saved to the cloud. We will send links out at the end of every lecture.
  • You can and will be asked to share your screen sometimes
  • Use the "Raise Hand" feature to ask a question. We will call on you so you know when you can start talking
  • Please stay muted unless asking a question
  • Have Fun

Afternoon Projects

  • Choose a breakout room
    • If pair programming, one person streams
  • Begin working on your project
  • Mentors will jump in the breakout rooms and check-in periodically
  • If you need help, jump in the #Question Hall and grab a mentor
  • If no mentors are available in #Question Hall, ask for help in the #queue channel

Assessments

Assessments will unlock at 9 AM, begin at your leisure but you only have until 12:30 PM

Submit via Canvas or Github

You do not need to be in Discord, but I would recommend it.

Code Reviews

The mentor team will direct message you when it's your time and move you to a breakout room

Guest Instrucutors

Guest instructors will @cohort everyone with the GoToMeeting link. Mentors will take attendence and the Guest will begin

Climb nights and Saturday review

These will work just like a normal lecture. A GoToMeeting link will be sent you and once everyone has joined we will begin

Serious Debugging

When the going gets tough - the ducks get going

Sometimes the best way to help you is to take control. We will use the remote access feature on GoToMeeting to access your code and help as much as you need.

Group Projects

Stronger together

You have your own Discord server with your own private rooms!
