dyop project

the crisis:
The Chesapeake bay is being polluted by things like run-off, a result from farming, agriculture, and industry. It is creating dead zones, a place/places where no life can exist or life is dying. With each passing day the the crisis remains, seeing as the Chesapeake Bay is a very important water source within the United States, this is very problematic.
Pollution
The Chesapeake Bay pollution is now so bad it is ranked 27 out of 100 on the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency) scale for dirtiest water.

CAUSES
- population
- agriculture
- industry
Population: because of the increasing population the waste and pollution increases too resulting in situations like this.
Agriculture: waste and run off are results of things like farming, it runs into the Chesapeake Bay and pollutes the water.
Industry: industry pollutes the air as well as the water, its run off as well as run off from agriculture are extremely harmful.
watershed map

Greencastle is affected as well as the rest of Pennsylvania.
solutions:
-planting trees, underwater grasses, and other plants.
-By educating our generation about the environment, so in some way we can raise awareness
-By making community efforts to help clean up the bay
