Question 3
Whilst making our film opening we had to come up with the production and distribution companies because, we couldn't use any actual companies. We had a discussion about possible names and after a while we came up with the following two companies:
XXIV Cinema is our distribution company therefore,
it was the first thing we saw when our film opening
credits began.
Our production company name is: NYSIT Films
Company
Our distribution and production company are independent which means that we had low budget and less access to high quality and expensive equipment. However, we wanted the movie to feel very natural and real and having a low budget independent production and distribution was the right choice.
Realistically speaking, if this company were to be real, we would definitely consider using it as our film is British and since it's independent using this certain production and distribution would give us the right direction into film making and also, we have watched other independent films which this company has produced and distributed therefore we trust their support and as a company they are always encouraging to new films to step forward and present their idea.
We took inspiration from In Fear and how they were a low budget independent film. Looking at how well they did definitely gave us a confidence boost into working with XXIV Cinema and NYSIT Films.
Audience
These specific production and distribution companies suit our film opening because, it is in fact horror and having a low budget really made us explore different filming techniques and it is definitely more eye opening to our audience.
Our movie is aimed at British Teenagers and we feel like a lot of them do study media based subject so they know the struggles of producing a low budget film as well as the gains.
For example: Due to our expenses we have to reduce the access of CGI and we couldn't include any big named actors and have some of their inherited audience to come and watch our film. The only thing we were able to do is create social media websites which is a form of free advertising
On the distribution side, we had limited marketing which means that we couldn't really put up any posters and have adverts on the TV however, the best advertisement which we found useful was to create Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TUMBLR pages. A lot of teenagers are very connected online so if the message doesn't pass through word of mouth they can talk to each other online.
On the plus side, creating a low budget independent film really gave the actors a tough job to act their roles and be familiar with the natural environment in which we were filming in.
