Sunday 19 April – Arrival

  • 8:30–9:45  Classes according to schedule
    Give your guest a tour of the school.

  • 10:00–11:15
    Welcome session in the music room (10.00) &  Finnish language lesson with Krista (10.30), room 415
    Guests only – Finnish students have classes      (Bring your guest to the music room by 10)

  • Lunch at school

  • 12.15 Departure for a Helsinki city tour through song (prepare to sing Maamme and Finlandia)

    • Kumtähden field, where the Finnish national anthem "Maamme" (Our Land) was first publicly performed in 1848.

    • Sibelius monument. Jean Sibelius' most well-known work, Finlandia, became a symbol of Finnish pride and independence.

    • Temppeliaukion church

    • Selfie Treasure Hunt in small groups

    UPM is a Finnish bioindustry company that creates renewable and sustainable products from forest resources, including paper, wood materials, biofuels and innovative biomaterials.

  • Lunch at school – 12:00

  • 13:15 Departure to the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site

     

Tuesday 21 April – Sustainability & History

  • 8.30 - 9.45: morning class according to your schedule (take your guest to class)

  • 9.45 - 10.15: homeroom (RO) - take your guest with you and explain the homeroom system

  • 10.15 - 11.30: Erasmus session in room 419 (jos on tärkeä oppitunti, tuo vieras tänne ja mene omalle tunnille)

  • Lunch at school

  • 12:30 Departure to Nuuksio National Park

  • Visit to the Finnish Nature Center Haltia, guided tour

  • Hiking in Nuuksio (bring weather-appropriate clothing & a water bottle!)

  • 17.00 Departure to Helsinki
