COMPARISON 01

Wave

WAVE POWER

Wave power is one of the few ways electricity is generated without a steam turbine. A buoy sits atop the ocean with an anchor holding it to the sea bed. as the waves rise and fall, the buoy generates power through a piston.

Advantages

  • Almost free long-term
  • Requires little maintenance
  • Renewable
  • Does not pollute

Disadvantages

  • New, experimental technology
  • Costly short-term

COMPARISON 02

Coal

COAL POWER

Power from coal is generated  by burning it to boil water, which then drives a turbine.

Advantages

  • Cheap
  • Some by-products can be used for roads
  • Plentiful right now

Disadvantages

  • Non-renewable
  • Creates pollution
  • Coal mining destroys the landscape
