Although one might think that the roles of social media manager and community manager are synonymous, their roles and responsibilities are actually quite different.

To illustrate the role of the social media manager and community manager, we spoke to our own social media manager, Martc Tacchi, and  community manager,  to discuss their roles, responsibilities and advice for each other. As you may have heard, community managers don't troll the Internet every day. Instead, they help build, grow and manage a corporate brand and online community.

The biggest trend associated with social media management is the ability to create and distribute brand content across a variety of social networks. Using analytics tools to monitor social media, online forums, and blogs, community managers can find out what people say about a company's brand. If a company wants to increase brand awareness in different cities, a social media manager can develop strategies for placing ads to reach target markets.
