Analyzing Student Work

Objectives

  • Create plans to respond to data.
  • Find trends in student work.

Finding a Trend

  • Identify the 2-3 most important skills

    • What will students need to use later?
    • What will hold them back from moving on?
  • Look at student work:

    • Pick work that is middle of the road (represents students not failing, but also not getting 100)

  • Find commonalities between their work that is incorrect.

Responding to the Trend

  • How did you teach it originally?

  • Does it need to be re-taught to the whole class?

  • How could you introduce it again, and let them practice?
