Design Sprints
Presentation objective:
- Explain how to use this methodology to execute a design sprint
What is a design sprint and what does this solves?
Design sprint is a method for exploring an idea for a new feature or application in an official prototype in 5 days.
The goal of the sprint is to explore the problem we are trying to solve, find solutions, decide on what solution we are going to explore in depth and test, then build a prototype and test this with real users to see how effective the solution is at resolving the problem, all within 5 days.
This approach to exploring new ideas is a great way to eliminate the extra time it takes to find out if an idea has merit or not thus saving hundreds of thousands in development cost and allowing more flexibility by exploring multiple ideas in a short period of time.
Rules
- Block five full consecutive days
- Key members of each department connected to this product should participate (Product manager, CEO o decision-maker, sales and marketing, finance, engineers and designers.
Day 1
- Looking at the end
- What are the risks?
- Sharing knowledge and understanding problems
- Choose a target
What is the end results of where we would like users to be
Day 2
- Finding solutions
- Sketch out ideas
- Create a solution
- Identify potential customers for testing
Should have 1. solution & 2. potential customers for testing
Day 3
- Narrowing down ideas to one solution
- Storyboard: a step-by-step experience of prototype or solution
The team decides which one has the chance of achieving the long term goal
Day 4
- Prototype creation
Day 5
- Testing with customers
- Get feedback

Answer the question: Is this the right path?
If it doesn’t, do another sprint to figure out how to resolve this instead of investing resources on something not worth doing.
