Executive Summary
(click your right arrow key to advance each slide)
Every year in the u.s. there are:

15M high school students looking at colleges
+ 45M parents and family members
= 60M people looking for college guidance
They are all likely to spend
$50,000 - $250,000
for college, so they want to
make the best decisions possible
So where can they turn?
today, they've got
four options...
1. high school counselor
But counselors often have 500+ students in their caseload,
so students usually don’t get much time with them
2. private college counselor
But they can cost $5,000 to $10,000 or more…
which is too expensive for many families
3. Professional Guidance Software
A company called Naviance provides the
leading platform that's used by schools, but...
- It has a bad user experience (imagine the web circa 2002)
-
It's expensive ($15k-$20k per school)
- It can only be purchased by schools and districts… so lots of students across the U.S. are effectively “locked out” (especially students in low income areas)
4. free college planning apps
There are some really cool apps out there like Unigo, College Prowler and FastWeb...but there's one big "gotcha" with these apps. They make their money by selling students’ personal information to third-party marketers. This violates most schools’ security policies, which is why these tools aren’t adopted by counselors. And this means that these free apps don’t enable students and counselors to work together.
that's why we're creating...

Professional college guidance platform that helps
American high school students become more competitive
Being made available for free to students, families and counselors across the United States…so they can all work together to help get students into college

We are a non-profit organization.
There are no ads, no spam, and
we will never sell or share students'
personal data.
All student data is kept private and highly secure
using advanced encryption methods.
Our goal is simple...
Every year, we will inspire 1 million American high school students to dream big when it comes to going to college.
How will we do this?
an algorithm.
The best way to understand
the algorithm is to see it in action...

big about going to college….then uses
a powerful algorithm to design a
customized college plan. Allows
parents to work closely with their
children on college planning. Helps counselors run an efficient, effective
(and fun!) college guidance program.
Designed to be the tool they use every day
to manage their large caseloads of students.

The school edition
is designed to solve these issues.
Here's how it works...

the district edition
A private hosted edition of MyCollegeTimeline,
where school districts can host their own student data
(so they can be FERPA compliant) and get district-wide analytics of all their students using the platform.
Approximately $15k/year per district.
the college edition
Will enable colleges to start connecting directly to
students, families and counselors. This edition will
include college application tools like electronic
submission of transcripts, recommendation letters etc.
Approximately $15k/year per college.
so this is the full suite of products:

In 5 years, we'll have
2,000,000 users
How will we get there?
1. marketing to students & families

2. marketing to school counselors

3. Viral growth

the platform will be underwritten by
generous support from organizations like:
- Charities that focus on education
- Philanthropists that are interested in improving education in the U.S.
- Foundations that focus on education
- Publishers that sell into the college market (e.g. MacMillan, McGraw-Hill, Petersons, Kaplan)
- Major brands that sell into the college market (e.g. Target, Staples)
Who's the team behind
my college timeline?

Every year,
we will inspire 1 million American high
school students to dream big when it comes to going to
college.
Then we’ll help them realize their dream.
