Jo Gusman is both an outstanding teacher of emerging bilingual students and an outstanding professional development provider. She began her teaching career in 1974 as a bilingual education instructional assistant, and later became a Bilingual Education teacher. I worked in elementary schools for 35 years, as teacher, assistant principal, curriculum consultant (Elementary English Language Arts) and principal. My Ph.D research focused on the experiences of men who teach young children. I recently retired as principal from the All Boys Program, (Calgary Board of Education). James is an IT Systems Engineer, Sign Language Interpreter,Technology Instructor at NAIT, Entrepreneur and Assistive Technology Specialist among other things. Combining his disabilities background with his professional training and work as an IT Systems Engineer, James started a high-tech communications company providing live streaming text for individuals with hearing loss to be able to see what’s being said in real time (similar to CART but at half the cost). Paula began teaching with the CBE in 1998. She was part of the AISI Project for Cycles 3, 4 and 5 and focused on writing at the Division II level. When Paula was a kid she hated EVERYTHING about writing. Sheryl has worked with the CBE since 1989. She has shared her passion for writing with students and teachers in grades 2 to 9. Sheryl was a member of the AISI Literacy Mentorship Team for three years at which time she co-authored Inspiring Young Writers. Even as a child, Sheryl loved EVERYTHING about writing.
