123$7

For the n00bs, the title of the presentation is REST. It's how APIs function and how you should live your life more like a robot.

You still don't get. Geez, good luck with this presentation.

Let me spell it out for you.

12 = R , 3 = E, $ = S, 7 = T

Breaking it down

  • 1 to 2 tasks sometimes
  • 3 tasks is the goal
  • More $ in the form of time
  • 7 days a week.

If my calculations are correct, that spells REST

in 1337 speak of course.

WARNING:

This presentation is slightly confusing... Also potentially Destructively Optimistic™.

How does 123$7 work?

Take on no more than three tasks a day.

IMPORTANT! One of them should be something that makes you happy.

It's not that simple though.

You have to estimate them all. If you can't decide how much time one will take, subtract one from the schedule.

The stage is an analogy for the process.

When you only have one task,

it means you're winning.

Time is like hair.

It's better to have more than not enough.

Need an example?

Meeting #1

This meeting is not very fun. People talk slow and use a ton of buzzwords. I also know that someone is going to add a new task to my plate during it. Good thing I have a plan for organizing these now.

Task #1

This task is not that exciting. However, I am giving back to this company that hired me. I also know that my next task is fun. I'm going to make this great and then enjoy myself soon.

# Fun Task

  • This task is a blast. I'm learning so much and who knew it'd be this easy to organize my day. I think I'm actually going to finish it a bit early and take off early.

You really didn't need a crappy example.

Why do people overbook themselves?

Good question.

This presentation doesn't have all the answers.

Do you think people have time to estimate a task when being asked to take on a new one?

Multithreading exists in computers, but not humans.

I think not.

[Drop the mic. Walk out of the presentation. Go get a La Croix #lacroixlife.]

Fuck you. Pay me. I was paid a lot of money to add that hashtag. NTS: Drinking the coconut flavor in public makes you look like douche.
INSERT – New Life Photo Montage

This dumb large sandwich is out of place in the presentation, but it represents too many tasks on

someones plate.

What a freakin' waste!

It's the future

People work less in the future because robots do things.

When robots take on too much work...

They crash.

This drone is trying to take on too much. Nature is just too big for

the robots right now.

If robots don't take on more than they can, why should you?

Remember that dumb sandwich?

Here's what your new plate looks like.

It looks like the Japanese thought of this whole process first.

Geez, I thought I was on to something.

Can you believe that's an entire weeks worth of deliverables?

It definitely looks better considering you don't have to eat it all, right?

It was literally just another image analogy for how many tasks you should be taking on in a week. I'm not advising you eat pills. They look gross.

What now?

Go enjoy your family.

Thanks for making this your fun task for the day!
