There is a great advantage to being able to rely on our habits. We don't need to stop and think about how to do routine things in life. However, when those habits keep us stuck in a rut, and keep us under-living our potential, we need to make plans to change these habits. In the same manner, our attitude can limit our achievements as well. The good news is that your habits and attitudes can be changed.

Our thoughts accumulate to become beliefs, so it's important to control our thoughts. We do this by learning to control our self-talk, the constant non-stop conversation that is going on in our minds. Self-talk is vitally important in forming our self image, it can build us up or tear us down.

Building My Self Image
Unit 9
The subconscious mind is a literal mechanism-it does what you tell it. If with your self-talk, you are dwelling on the negative, that is what gets assimilated into your version of "reality"in the subconscious mind. Since thoughts accumulate to become beliefs, all of your beliefs become negative, and reaching your potential becomes impossible. In contrary, if your self talk dwells on the positive possibilities of life, what will happen to your beliefs and behaviors?

Unit 11
In our past, when we really didn't want to go somewhere or do something, we found excellent reasons for not going or doing. What we may not have realized is that we were coming face to face with our comfort zones. While some comfort zones are good for us, others hold us back: and it is time that we learn how to expand limiting comfort zones, so that we can go.
Objectives
By the end of this unit we will:
- Understand that I am a self regulating mechanism.
- Be aware of my reactions to situations, and know that these reactions are signals of comfort zones issues that might be holding me back.

So far in this course, we have been working toward changing our self-talk from negative to positive, and now we go one step further by learning to give ourselves "next time" goals, that will help create that new picture of ourselves in our subconscious.
Objectives
By the end of this unit you will:
- Understand how my self-talk controls my performance
- Stop my negative self-talk about my performance and give myself new performance goals with the phrase, "the next time I intend to....."
