Correction chapter three

1

Japanese women have learnt a lot from American wives; basically everything actually.
From ironing to cleaning and even taking care of their husbands.
In fact, we can not help but wonder if their lives were improved or worsened.

2

They can not but comply with the wives' orders.
They get treated as objects.

What's more their performances are even compar-ed to other servants that had served in the       household before.

3

I think that they would have rather died than reveal their living conditions.
They were supposed to have left to live a life of  ease.
How could they confess they had in fact been      degraded and ordered around.

4

When there's no obvious way out, no way to escape or be spared, there is nothing left to do than renounce and try to survive.
Maybe, their liberation would only be postponed.
Pretend that you give in but don't give up inside.
It quite sums up the Japanese education of submission.

5

Folding is like finishing a book; it means that they may have stopped   believing in their own culture.
They may have given up hoping for some change to take place.
On the other hand, they may have resolved to go back to their              homeland after all.
