What is a logical network?

To understand the function of "uniting networks" of routers it is convenient to be clear about what a network is from the point of view of routing. Generally the term networkis applied to a grouping of interconnected devices. However, for a router, a network is a grouping of devices connected to each other ... but they use the same address range. That is, the routers are fixed in the IP addresses of the devices to determine whether or not they belong to the same network. Enterprise router is a basic product for any business/enterprise.

Within the rules of the TCP / IP family of protocols, used on the Internet and in practically all the world's networks, so that two devices that are physically connected can communicate, in addition to a physical medium that connects to those devices (cable copper, optical fiber, radio link ...), must use IP addresses within the same address range, or in other words must be within the same logical network .
