worldview is the point of view of an invidual or group. (how someone sees the world)

  1. India is one of the world's oldest and most diverse country.
  2. It has different regions and every region has is own distinct culture.
  3. India has 28 states and seven territories, and each has at least one official language.


indian culture

  1. India has very unique culture, which is based on foods, religion, dressing, and many other things.
  2. Most of the Indian food is made up of spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Some food types: curries, Dal, rice etc.

flag

 The natinal flag of india  (affectionately called taranga meaning tricolour) has three equal horizontal bands - the top panel is india saffron, the bottom panel is india green and white middle band bearing at its center the design of Ashoka chakra in navy blue colour with 24 equally spaced spokes. It was adopted by the constituent assembly on 22 July 1947, when it became the official flag of the dominion of india. 

values

  1. Respect is an extremely valued component of the everyday life of people in India.

beliefs

India culture have different belief than other cultures around the world.

  • Most of the Indians are strict vegiterians.

 

     
     
  • The Indian culture has specific times for prayer and medition
  • Family members, especially elders, have a big influence on making decisions.

customs and celebrations

  1.  There are number of festivals in India. Like Diwali (festival of lights),  Lohri, Guru Nanak Jyanti (the birthday of first guru (god) of sikhs), Holi (the festival of colors) and many more.

traditions

  •  These traditions range from the aarti done to welcome the guests to touching the feet of the elder. The cultural traditions of india have been passed on  from generation to generation and have became deeply rooted in the Indian way of living. And many more.

clothing

  1. Indian clothing is closely identified with colorful silk saris worn by many of the country's women.
  2. The traditional clothing for men is the dhoti. Men also wear a kurta, a loose shirt that is worn about kneelenght.

Food

  • Many Hindus are  vegetarians, but lamb and chicken are common in main dishes for non-vegetarians.
  • Wheats, basmati rice and. Pulses with Chana (Bengal gram)  are important staples of the Indian diet. The food is rich with curries and spices including ginger, corlander,  cardamom, turmeric, dried hot peppers, and cinnamon,  among  others. Chutneys- thick condiments and spreads made from assorted fruits and vegetables such as tamarind and tomatoes and mint, cilantro and other herbs and used generously in Indian cooking.

  1. The most well-know example of indian architecture is the Taj Mahal, built by Mughal emperor shah Jahan to honor his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. India also has many ancient temples. 
  2. Like Virupaksha temple, Harmandir sahib, Jagadeeswarar temple and many more. 

arts

  1. India is well knows for its film industry, which is based in Mumbai and often referred to as Bollywood. The country began as a major producer of movies in the 1930s.




national spORts

There are a number of popular sports in India but cricket is the most popular. The  country also has own eight Olympic gold medals in field hockey.

language

  1. Hindi is the official language of India.
  2. state languages:  punjabi, urdu, bangle, etc.

Famous athlete

 Milkha singh ( born 20 November 1929), also is a former Indians track and field sprinter who was introduced to the sport while serving in the Indian army. He is the only indian male athlete to win an individual athletics gold medal at a commonwealth games.

INFLUENCE OF GEOGRAPHY

  1. The geography has effected the Indian history in many ways. For example India is a land of rivers, in medieval period wars took places to control the river and the land between rivers as they contained gold in them. Thus we can see how the geography has influenced Indian history.

political/governmental

 

  • The leader of this country is Pranab Mukherjee.
  • The prime minister of india is Narendra Modi.

economic/demographic 

  1. The demographic of India are inclusive of the second most populous country in the world, with over 1.25 billion people.
  2. India's capital city; new Delhi's population is 17,838,842 people.
  3. The name of the indian currency is rupees. The Canadian 1 dollar = 55.63

geographical factors

  1. There are many countries that share border with India like Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Burma.
  2. The main rivers in India: the Indus river and ganga river.
  3. the climate of south and west India has typical tropical monsoon-based climate. There are heavy rain almost continuously in the month of June, August and September. The eastern coast also receive rain in November. In northern India, the climate is very cold due to the higher elevation of the Himalayas.
