Horn

  •  The Alpenhorn is considered a "labrophone", which were mostly used in Switzerland.  
  • The time in which this communication device was used dates back to 1527. 
  • Conrad Gesner gave the very first detailed description of the horn. 
  • The horn was used as a signal during war and at funerals to honor the dead. 

Drums

  • Drums were used as a source of communication in Africa, New Guinea and the Tropical America. 
  • There are different types of drums used in the communication of drumming. These drums include "talking drums" and "slit drums"  
  • Talking drums are drums that can be regulated to mimic the tone of human speech, so that the drum sounds like its talking. Hense the name "talking drum"
  • Slit drums aren't really drums. They are idiophones. They are hollow and are usually constructed of bamboo or wooden boxes. They contain 1-3 large slits.
