Praxis
Acknowledging power:
both as a classroom teacher and faculty leader. This includes faculty middle class expectations of students.
I've been using Fullan before I read his book.
Dissertation
Focus is now on critical pedagogy. Going to read more about:
- Marx & Hegel
- Foucault
- Giroux (CP)
- Other CP peeps
- Gutstein (CP in Math)
In 10 years
- COA will be a collaborative space, not a contentious one.
- I will have been in several faculty leadership positions on campus: senate president, chair of PD committee, chair of equity. I'll be interim dean and retreat back to faculty.
- Create education courses (UC/CSU transferable) at COA
- Develop new faculty leaders
In 15 years
- State academic senate president to affect policies statewide.
- Maybe it's time to jump to administration?
- Teach prospective teachers at SFSU? Teach EDDL 921?
- Create "teaching certificate" for CC faculty
In 2 years
