- During the study course, students will recap many previous topics related to electronics, transmission systems, coding-decoding and queueing theory
- The study course is partly based on the official CCNP SWITCH 642-813 manual and ITU documents

During the study course, students will be introduced to the following:
- Operation of OSI second layer (Layer 2)
- Multilayer (MLS) switch
- Basic VLAN concepts
- Inter VLAN communication through Layer 3 routing
- Switch port aggregation with EtherChannel,
- Spanning tree protocol (SPT)
- Multilayer switching with CEF
- Ethernet applications in CAMPUS networks
- Enterprise network
- Ethernet carrier environment
- Switching in optical networks
- Network Security
- and the Foundations of Engineering if any gaps will be found
