When observing multiple workdays, is it better to measure two consecutive days or two independent days?

What are your comments regarding weekend days?
According to our experience, the KOMOD/KONTIV questionnaires are more suitable for workdays than for weekends - weekend days contain a lot of circular trips (e.g. walks), trips with the return next day, multiple "homes" (residence > weekend houses, student dormitory > parents house etc.).
Moreover, Saturday and Sunday are rather different, considering travel behavior. Weekend travel behavior is also usually connected to Friday (leaving a city for a weekend).
