Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When researching about music magazines, I used blogger to organise all of my information. Blogger helped me to collect my research and plan for my own magazine in an efficient way so that when it came to creating my magazine, all of my planning and research was easy to access. Creating my magazine has also taught me how to use a camera correctly. I learnt how to frame the image, and to take an image for a magazine you have to leave space around the image so that text can be added. After using the camera I then learnt how to use the memory card reader so that I could add my images onto the computer.

I used social media websites, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to research more about the target audience for my genre. I posted questions asking who would be interested in my choice of genre and took note of the age and gender so that I knew who to aim my magazine at. Before making my magazine I hadn't used Photoshop before so a lot of what I was editing was new to me. The first thing I learnt how to do was edit images. When editing my images I had to use the patch tool to remove marks from the backdrop, I didn’t know how to use this at first but after experimenting with this I successfully edited my image. I then learnt how to create layers so that making changes to my magazine would be easy.

When adding images and shapes I learnt that you can change the opacity of the color to make it less vibrant which I have done for the strap line and the puff and other rectangle boxes that are backgrounds for text. I also learnt how to use the magic wand tool to delete the background of the bar code and social media logos. When adding text, I learnt that adding a shadow effect onto the text made it look a lot more interesting and appealing to look at. I added a shadow effect of the masthead and the artist name as these are the most important pieces of text that appeal to the readers.

Once I had created my magazine I then started on my evaluation. I used many different types of media, including Windows Movie Maker, Prezi, Emaze, Powtoon and slide share. I had never used any of these programs before but I learnt how to make successful presentations, and animations.
