The Growth of Raising Cane's
Zane Thompson

First Ever Location
The following slide will show a map that highlights the very first Raising Cane's location at 3313 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge, LA which opened on August 26, 1996. Todd Graves, the founder, chose this location near Louisiana State University to attract college students. Graves had initially pitched the idea as a college assignment, which received the lowest grade in the class. Despite the rejection though, he persevered and turned his vision into reality.

Second Location
The following map shows the second Raising Cane's location at 3347 Nicholson Dr, Baton Rouge, LA, which opened in 1997. Graves strategically selected this spot to continue catering to the student population. Interestingly, this location was right across the campus from the first one. The proximity to the first location helped build a loyal customer base for Todd Graves.
Before Hurricane Katrina
The following map displays the Raising Cane's locations before Hurricane Katrina struck and shut down 21 of them. It illustrates the chain's growth and presence in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi prior to the disaster. It’s incredible to see the growth that Graves had in just 9 years before Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005.
Raising Cane's Currently
The following map showcases all current Raising Cane's locations across the United States. This really shows how Raising Cane’s was able to pick itself back off its feet in 20 years despite the disaster that struck the restaurant chain. Now Raising Cane’s has over 800 restaurants in the US and is growing at a phenomenal rate.
Raising Cane's Future in Washington
This map features the future Raising Cane's locations planned for Washington state. The fact that there are five locations planned to open in Washington despite there only being one here currently really shows the determination and confidence that Raising Cane’s has in its expansion. This is definitely exciting because it will open the fast-food chain to a lot more people than previously had access to it.
Conclusion
In summary, Raising Cane's has demonstrated remarkable growth and resilience since its inception. From the humble beginnings of the first location in Baton Rouge to the widespread presence across the United States, the chain has continually expanded and adapted. Despite setbacks like Hurricane Katrina, Raising Cane's has rebuilt and thrived, showcasing its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The future locations in Washington state represent the next chapter in this journey, highlighting the brand's ambition to reach new markets. This storymap captures the essence of Raising Cane's expansion, providing a comprehensive view of its past, present, and future.
