Kea Bird

The Kea birds common name is the Kea. Its scientific name is a Latin word Notabilis. Which means noteworthy.



The Kea bird can most likely be found in New Zealand.



  


 The Kea feeds on more than 40 plant species. In captivity, the bird is fond of butter, nuts, apples, carrots, grapes, mangoes, figs, bread, dairy products, ground meat, and pasta. It’s an omnivore so it also eats beetle larva, other birds (including shearwater chicks), and mammals (including sheep and rabbits).



Kea birds live in and southern beach forests. In summer Keas inhabit high elevation scrub. And in autumn they move to higher elevations to forage for berries. Lastly during the winter Keas move below the timberline. 



Biome


The Kea Bird lives in a Chaparral biome.


 A Chaparral is a shrubland or heathland plant community

Locomotion


  • Keas are known for their Intelligence and curiosity

  •     Its main form of Locomotion is a hopping or walking movement on ground level

Diet




Kea birds have a very unbalanced diet. as u see in the picture it is feeding on human waste.

Land or water.


1Keas are adapted to live on land. It is obvious because they don’t have any adaptations to survive under water like fish and other water organisms have gills. They have lungs and wings which they use their wings to fly on land not in water.
