Solution 1

Most disadvantages of the previous system are eliminated, at the cost of some increase in complexity and use of resources.

 

Solution 2

The process stays more or less the same as far as the driver is concerned, while the disadvantages of the previous system get eliminated.

Small disadvantages (related to magnets) may be introduced by the solution.
