Year 9 End of Term Knowledge : Germany
The new government of Germany was called the Wiemar republic. The goverment wanted to set up a democracy republic.

The War lasted for 4 years.
After the War Germany was only allowed to have 100,000 men and she wasn't allowed to have an air force. After that Germany had problems with money causing the hyperinflation. Causing the government to get money from America and banks leading to the great depression.
But some German people thought i was a good idea to start to print money but it only lead to keeping them warm. When Germany was at its peak , the french invaded to spy on them.But then the German workers refuse to work causing them to go on strict.
Which made prices go down in the Germany economy in the impact of the price of goods. So money became worthless
The Treaty of Versailles
was signed by Ebert. After that the Germans felt that they had been stabbed in the back. Groups of people like the Spartacus who were led by Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht. They were soon arrested and shot on their way to prison.
Germany had to pay reparations to the countries like they had to pay £6,600 million. They lost money and other parts of land in Germany, eg the Rhineland.
The 3 big Leaders were David Lloyd from Britain, George Clemenceau from France and Woodrow Wilson from the United States of America.
When Germany lost the Rhineland the french guarded it so nobody could escape. But ended after the Repartions .
New Leader
Hitler was the first president of the new republic with his new party the Nazi. But unfortunately he was arrested before he became the new president for his treason. In court during his trial he realized that if he is going to get the people of German to follow, violence wouldn't be the answer.
Bundestag
The System used to elect the members of the Reichstag was called the Bundestag. The president was allowed to overrule the reichstag at times. This was called Article 48. The voting system was a huge weakness for the new republic because it led to many conflict between parties.
The "Bank"
The "people" in the bank had the Germans money but when it was time to give it out after the Germans borrowed money from the bank they wanted it "back" (oh hell no!!!). After that people's savings were "gone". They had no Jobs or businesses. They were "gone" (Bye- Bye). Now if you had a large debt...... You better pack your bags and leave.

The people who mostly supported the communist parties were the workers.
The nationalists mostly wanted to over throw to Wiemar government.
The Kapp led to the Putsch in 1920.

3 economic reforms by Stresemann
He introduced a new currency to the new republic: (the Wiemar Republic)
He helped ordinary people like introducing job centres, better housing and umemployment pay
He also introduced the dawes plan and the young plan.

He and the other people in the Wiemar Government called off the strike by the workers
He convinced the Government to allow laws to be made.
Dawes Plan
America loans money to Germany leading to German people's pensions and wages to increase. The government invest in Schools, Hospitals, Roads and Housing. But later on, Some rich Germans complained because they had to pay high taxes and Farmers complained that food prices stayed low. So wages didn't rise.
Young Plan
It was suppose to bring Germany out of the hyperinflation and to put all the focus on paying the reparations to the other countries. But when Hitler came to power he never talked about the treaty or the plans. Yet alone paying, he only wanted to put Germany back on top where she belonged.
But either the way the plans made Germany have enough time to pay the reparations.
The Locarno Plan
Stresmann agreed to cooperate with Germany's neighbors and to not to take back the land that was taken because someone couldn't control themselves and their hands signed this piece of paper.
But that caused German people to be angry because they said they were in giving into France and that stresemann was weak he couldn't do anything by himself.
People now see that Stresemann put Germany at a starting point to become back to its original point as known as Stresemann's years : the Golden Age

The wall street Crash.
The economic effects after the wall street crash in Germany were that
12 million people out of work
12,000 people being made unemployed everyday
20,000 companies had gone bankrupt
1616 banks gone bankrupt
1 farmer in 20 evicted
23,000 people commited suicide in one year which is the higest ever
The social effect after the wall street crash in Germany was that people in Germany could no longer fund in its government.
The person who became leader after this event was called Herbert Hoover.
Adolf Hitler had 25 points in his early days as a DAP Leader.
Hitler as A leader wanted to achieve
- More families to have a mother, a father and one boy, one girl.
- For people to look at the christian views. Like christmas etc.
- To get rid of the Jews and the Weimar Republic
- To own Big businesses
Who were the SA ?
They were the umemployed former soliders who became Hitler's body guards.
Short term effect and long term affect of the Munich
Short term - The nazi party was banned
Long term - Hitler was arrested
