'Q' Magazine Contents Page

Heading

The heading including the name of the magazine 'Q' implies that they want the reader to know the sort of magazine that they are reading. The colours used for the heading have two different combinations so that they both stand out against each other. The letter 'Q' is in white writing which is more bolder than the 'contents'. The contents in terms of colour is maybe the one that attracts the readers attention because its in black on its own at the top of the banner along with a red background where here the two colours give a dark side to the page to show the elegance of the page. The 'Q' is in front of a red background which has a strip going through the top of the page, the colour red is a very vibrate colour therefore this suggest that the sub heading that are going to be talked about are 'hot' topics. Having the big 'Q' in a red background gives it that powerful look to the whole page. Issue is in a white colour with a simple font being used which present it like it is important as its the same colour as the 'Q' therefore shows the link between the two.By the issue number being across the banner at the top shows the edition of that particular magazine. This gives the contents page a whole professional look.

Main Image

The main image is the image in the center which is the aim for the target market audience to have all the attention to this image at first sight. To emphersie this the number of the image is also a lot bigger compared to the other side images. To add to that the numbers are in black witting with a white background as the other numbers have a opposite combination, this is here to allow the reads to navigate themselves around the page with ease. Therefore having this as the image suggest that this is the main focus of the page where the most attention will be page by the reader to want them to buy the magazine. Having a long shot for the main image shows the type of setting they are in from the background as its a music magazine page, also having the owl on the side of the page and hiding the face adds that excitement as to who it can be.

Layout

The overall look of the contents page gives it that sophisticated and professional look, as its all set out in a way where everything is visible to the reader to follow easily throughput the page and because its on a double page allows all the text and images to be set out in a precise manner, therefor giving it an organised look. Having many image along side with the features column gives the audience a hint of what its all about.  The colours used here are of red, white and black throughout the whole page so that there is to many colours clashing together so that the page looks messy so having three colours is a reasonable amount to have on a page.

Features

The features of the contents page are on the sides of the page with images surrounding in the middle of the page. Every image has a number along side with a feature to show the link between the two and what it is about. The heading at the top is more bolder then the sub-headings so that this is more apparent to the audience and so therefore more eye catching so it stands out more. In addition to this having the front cover the magazine at the top of the features implies to the reader the theme of the magazine they have picked up and what kind of magazine it is, just to show them the reminder of the things that they saw on the front page so that they don't have to keep flicking backwards to check what that it was that they wanted to read.   Also having the British flag and 50 unlimited songs, persuades the reader to read on as it intrigues them into the text and wanting them to know what the 50 songs are that they are missing out.

Language

the language used throughout this page is done in a way that makes it look formal but readable this is because so that they are able to attract their specific target market. The type of language used is very persuasive. '50 ultimate British songs' this implies that these are the all time songs that should be known therefore are the ultimate. It gives the hint of the magazine of being quite formal in the way long, not day to day words are used 'quintessential' therefore this is specific to their target audience, as their is a lot of text on their which suggests that the readers of Q magazine like to have a lot of text and so this is the way they appeal to their target market.
