The Gelbvieh are a type of cattle

Origins

The Gelbvieh originated in Bavaria in southern Germany. It was thought to have been created between the late 18th century and early 19th century.

This breed was finally introduced to the United States through genetics in the summer of 1971.

Characteristics

Color of coat: coats are red with strong skin pigmentation

Horned or polled: this breed is horned though in the United States some are polled

Frame size: large framed & muscular

Breeds used to create the Gelbvieh are Swiss Brown cattle used on red-spotted cattle

Main Use

This breed is mainly used for work, milk, and meat.
