Find the area of the circular pool.

  • A= pi * r * r
  • A= 3.14 * 15 * 15
  • A= 706.5 sq ft

Step Two

Add the 4 foot walkway.

  • A= 3.14 * 17 * 17
  • A= 907. 46 sq ft

Step Three

Find the area of the rectangle pool.

  • A = l * w
  • A= 16 * 40
  • A= 640 sq ft

Step Four

Add the 3 foot walkway.

  • A= 19 * 43
  • A= 817 sq ft

Step Five

  • Find the area of the grass.
  • The area of the grass is 3,750 sq ft
  • Subtract the area of the circle pool from 3,750 sq ft
  • That leaves you with 2,842.54 sq ft of grass left if you get a circle pool.

Step Six

  • Find the difference of the area of the rectangle pool and the area of grass.
  • The amount of grass left would be 2,933 sq ft.

Step seven

  • I would choose the rectangle pool because it allows more room for grass and takes up less space.
