- relatively sensitive to detect most true cases
At the same time, All staff should be traintd to use it
About
3rd step
Counting cases
Counting cases
- Start active case finding and reinforce positive surveillance
-
Calculate and report indicators
which include- attack rate
- case fatality rate
Further Steps
Further steps
Usually things listed below are done. But, again, they depend on disease.
- Further Investigation
- Control of an outbreak
- Case Management
Further Investigation
-
Descriptive epidemiology
who where when
- Determinate population at risk
- Generate and evaluate a hypothesis of outbreak
Report to UNHCR
Control of an outbreak
- Control of source
- Protect Susceptible people
- Interrupt transmission
Case Management
-
Treatment protocols
standardized, simple, flow chart, latest -
Patient care strategy
home based -
Patient Isolation
separate units for both out-patient & in-patient departments
Draw isolation centre plan and manage staff - Reporting and communication
Example
Cholera
