+ Cedarwood is one of the first oils I recommend to people when they want to get some more oils outside the starter kit because:

1. It’s so affordable

AND

2. It’s so versatile!

+ Cedarwood supports hair, skin, emotions, focus, and sleep. Listen to this — 'cedarwood stimulates the limbic system of the brain (center of emotions), which releases melatonin.'

Hello AMAZING sleep support.

+ You can throw it in the diffuser (try with lavender or northern lights black spruce or both) or topically. I like to use it on my face because it’s moisturizing and helps decrease oil production, BUT only at night time because it is a photosensitive oil. No one wants a gnarly sunburn. Another great place to apply cedarwood is to the bottoms of your feet before bed. You have big ole pores there (kinda gross, I know) that allow your body to absorb the oils quicker.

+ Most often I use cedarwood to support healthy hair — I put several drops on my hands, rub it into my scalp and smooth down all the frizz. I normally add cypress & rosemary to the mix as well -- we’ll get to those oils in a bit.

O R E G A N O    V I T A L I T Y

+ Here is the first vitality oil we are gonna talk about tonight! Young Living has two different labels they use on their oils. One is called vitality, it’s a white color that is labeled for internal use. The other type of label is the solid colored one. These bottles are labeled for topical and aromatic use. Both bottles of oregano contain the same oil, but YL makes these two different labels to comply with FDA standards.

+ Most people think ingesting oils is a little weird -- this was 100% me when I first started using oils -- but it turns out that oils do a phenomenal job of supporting all our body systems when they are ingested. PLUS all of you have ingested oils before (in herbs or extracts) even if you didn't know it!

Try out this blend of oils that support overall wellness:

Immune Capsule:
- 2 drops oregano vitality
- 2 drops frankincense vitality
- 2 drops lemon vitality
- 2 drops thieves vitality
Put the oils in a vegetable or glycerin capsule, fill with a little carrier oil, and swallow.

*You can buy these from Young Living, and basically it's an empty supplement shell.

+ Oregano is a POWERFUL oil that is so good for many different things. It supports aging joints, the respiratory system, the digestive tract and overall wellness. If you've used oregano before you know it has a strong smell, and you’ll be smelling like a pizza for a bit after applying it -- I generally put it on at night to avoid too many comments. Oregano is high in phenols which gives it that strong powerful smell.

+ We know oregano is a little intense, so I always like to throw some carrier oil on with it (1:2 ratio if you like to get technical, which i don’t haha ) if it's going on my skin.

O R A N G E

+ Orange is a pretty amazing oil — in over 50 clinical studies limonene (which is super prevalent in orange eo) was shown to combat tumor growth. Ok that's cool. It also supports the circulatory and respiratory systems, sleep, skin, digestion, muscles, tissues and hormones. It has uplifting, calming, cleansing, repairing and smoothing properties. It also promotes mental clarity and focus!

+ Orange is so energizing and makes a great oil to start your day with! Try adding it in the diffuser with geranium, northern lights black spruce and grapefruit to mimic an Anthropologie candle.

+ Orange is also known to brighten smiles, try adding a drop of orange vitality on top of your toothpaste before brushing.

+ Before applying to your skin, make sure you're conscious of when you're heading out into the sun. Orange is a photosensitive oil, which means if you roll some on your face, and go outside you’ll be extra sensitive to the sun. I normally put it on at night and haven’t had any problems!

G R A P E F R U I T    V I T A L I T Y

+ Grapefruit is also high in limonene and can be used to support healthy weight management. It helps to detoxify and cleanse your kidneys, lymphatic and vascular systems. Try adding a drop or two to a glass (or stainless steel bottle) of water with a pinch of pink himalayan sea salt. It’s the perfect way to start your morning!

+ Grapefruit is also known to uplift and improve mood. A study done by Mie University found that citrus oils supported immunity, induced relaxation and helped to support depressed patients.

+ In nursing school when I learned all about medications, it seemed like every other drug had an interaction with grapefruit. BUT don’t worry, since all of YL’s citrus oils are cold pressed from the rinds of each fruit, you don't need to worry about medication interactions.

+ I can imagine some fun drink you could make with this oil!! I need to start experimenting.

L I M E

+ Historically lime has been used in skin care and to support and strengthen the respiratory and immune systems. It is also great to support weight management, detoxification and flushing of the lymphatic system.

+ Lime can be used to support emotions and is found in several of YL blends including: Awaken, Live With Passion, OOLA Grow, Stress Away and Common Sense.

+ Put a couple drops of lime in your hands and rub them together then take three deep breaths — this helps combat the afternoon slump. You can also throw it in the diffuser with grapefruit, lemon, and orange for an uplifting blend. I love putting a couple drops of lime vitality in my water!

+ This is another photosensitive oil, so avoid direct sunlight to skin with lime oil on it for about 12 hours.

L E M O N G R A S S

+ Lemongrass is a super versatile oil and supports so many body systems - kidneys, respiratory, digestive, muscles and joints, lymphatic and circulatory. The list goes on.

+ It is also a powerhouse ‘cleaning’ oil. It's the key ingredient in YL’s purification blend that we use in so many ways:

-In the diffuser to freshen stinky air
-In with your laundry detergent or on wool dryer balls
-Sprinkled on the carpet with baking soda and then vacuumed up

+ Next time your joints are bothering you, grab some carrier oil (in my opinion, YL’s V-6 is THE BEST — not greasy, has no smell and doesn't stain. win win win.) and a couple drops of lemongrass and rub it all over your joints.

+ You can also use lemongrass to keep your outdoor adventures as pest free as possible. Add tea tree, citronella, lemongrass, clove and melaleuca quinquenervia to a 10ml roller and top off with a carrier oil. Keep it in your pocket to roll on your wrists, feet, ankles and back of your neck.

R O S E M A R Y

+ Rosemary is such a versatile oil and supports so many different things. It combats mental fatigue and helps improve mental clarity, supports the liver, cleanses the skin, boosts mood and balances the cardiovascular system.

+ It is a key ingredient in many of Young Living’s popular oil blends and products like: Thieves, Clarity, En-R-Gee, Melrose, Purification, Juvaflex, Comfortone and Inner Defense. If you notice, a lot of thses oils and products support overall wellness and immunity and mental clarity.

+ Rosemary (along with cypress + cedarwood) is an oil I use daily to support healthy hair and circulation.

+ Historically rosemary was used in hospitals to cleanse and purify the air — that's pretty cool!

N U T M E G

+ Nutmeg is a powerhouse oil that does so much to support our bodies! It supports and protects the stomach, stimulates the circulatory system, supports aging joints, aids in digestion, supports the liver and is the perfect addition to any pain relieving regimen.

+ Have sore muscles? Grab a roller and put in some aroma siez, lemongrass, nutmeg and a carrier oil.

+ I find myself using nutmeg most often in the cooler months. It smells amazing diffused with orange, cinnamon bark, clove and ginger. Do you have a favorite diffuser blend to share using nutmeg?

+ Here is another fun and festive diffuser blend using nutmeg: clove, lemon, bergamot, cinnamon and nutmeg.

V E T I V E R

+ Vetiver is one of my very favorite oils. It's in my diffuser at least every other night. Calming AND woodsy and the coolest brown color. Only thing I don't like? Waiting 30 seconds (or more) for each drop to make it’s way out. I have no idea what I did before getting these dropper tops — I promise, you NEED them!!

You can snag these brightly colored ones here:

https://www.amazon.com/Year-Plenty-Droppers-E…/…/ref=sr_1_3…

Or for neutral loving folks like me:

https://www.youroiltools.com/…/glass-dropper-for-5-ml-pack-…

+ Vetiver is historically known for it's calming properties and traditionally used to support aging joints. It's perfect when we are coping with stress and need some extra help processing and recovering from emotional trauma.

+ Vetiver is a great choice for the diffuser when the kiddos come home from school and are needing a little focus and calm. If all those things weren't enough, vetiver is also an amazing support to the nervous and circulatory systems, and the muscles and joints.

+ It’s found in both Cool Azul and Deep Relief which are both fantastic for discomfort in your muscles. You’ll also find vetiver in several emotion supporting oils like: Freedom, Gathering, The Gift, Gratitude, Highest Potential and Humility.

L E M O N    M Y R T L E

+ Lemon myrtle is super refreshing and is the perfect oil to throw in the diffuser first thing in the morning or when the afternoon slump hits. It was historically used in health care and cleaning products such as soaps, shampoos and lotions.

+ I love adding 2 drops of lemon myrtle and 2 drops of lavender to the diffuser when I am cleaning or working around the house. It’s the perfect support to following through with goals you have set!

+ Lemon myrtle supports the lungs and sinuses, the nervous system and emotions. Also try using it when you need some mental clarity.

+ People who have used it before say it smells like different candies. I think lemon heads, but I’ve also heard people say it smells like skittles!

W I N T E R G R E E N

+ You’ll find wintergreen in so many of YL's blends, like: Cool Azul, Deep Relief, PanAway, and Raven. It supports bones, muscles, joints, tendons and skin.

+ I found this super interesting! Native Americans chew wintergreen leaves to increase respiratory capacity when running long distances, and performing difficult physical labor. Early American settlers also chewed the leaves to prevent tooth decay.

+ Apply a mix of wintergreen, helichrysum, clove, peppermint and lavender to muscles and joints before a workout. I would use some carrier oil as well to make it more comfortable on your skin!

+ You’ll want to stay away from wintergreen if you are pregnant or have epilepsy. Also use caution if you are on warfarin or take aspirin.

C I T R O N E L L A

+ Citronella isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should be. Who loves YL’s insect repellent?! Citronella is one of the main ingredients. And sometimes if I don't have the repellent on me, I’ll just put a couple drops on my wrists and ankles. It's so so helpful when spending time outdoors! It’s also perfect to put on your furry friends when they are adventuring outside with you. You’ll also find citronella in purification, another powerhouse YL product.

+ Historically citronella has been used to support intestinal parasite treatment, menstrual problems, and it’s helpful as a mental stimulant. Try using citronella to support your respiratory system, muscles and nerves, digestive troubles, skin issues and even emotional support!

+ I was most excited to learn about citronella’s stomach support, so I am gonna make up this tummy support roller. add palmarosa, lemongrass and citronella in a 10ml roller bottle with some carrier oil and rub directly on your stomach.

+ Try this summer nights diffuser blend: purification, peppermint and citronella. Sounds amazing, right?!

C I N N A M O N    B A R K

+ This spicy oil is a key ingredient in Thieves, so you know it's good. AND it's in Christmas Spirit which is my FAVE to diffuse as soon as the weather gets cooler. Any other Christmas Spirit fans?!

+ Cinnamon bark supports the circulatory, endocrine, immune, respiratory and digestive systems. Make sure to use plenty of carrier oil cause this oil is HOT — my reference app recommends diluting at a 1:4 ratio, and up to 1:7 ratio if using on a child or for super sensitive skin.

+ Here is a fun diffuser blend for Autumn: orange, cinnamon bark, clove, nutmeg and ginger!

+ You can also snag a cinnamon bark vitality and use it in some fun ways! Try a drop or two in your Ningxia Red shot, or some in your hot cereal and it's so versatile you can even use it in place of ground cinnamon in any recipe!

C L O V E

+ Clove is another ingredient in Thieves oil. Since clove is high in the constituent eugenol, it’s been used in the dental industry for years to support troublesome gums.

+ Clove encourages sleep, supports overall wellness, aids the stomach in protecting against ulcers, supports eye health, dental health, aging joints and skin as well!

+ If you are taking a blood thinner such as warfarin or aspirin, be careful when using clove since it can enhance their anticoagulant properties.

+ Just like cinnamon bark, clove can make your skin SUPER sensitive, so make sure to use plenty of carrier oil when applying topically.

+ Besides thieves, you’ll also find clove in several other YL oil blends including: Abundance, Deep Relief, En-R-Gee, Essential Beauty Serum, ImmuPower, Longevity, Melrose, Owie and Progessence Plus! Several of these blends support overall wellness, some support the skin and some are good for the joints or energy.

+ You can also use clove vitality in place of ground clove in recipes! Here is a fun cider recipe for the Fall!

-4 sliced green apples
-4 sliced red apples
-1 sliced orange
-1 1/2 TB allspice
-3 drops clove vitality
-3 cinnamon sticks
-8 cups water

Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours, mash the fruit and cook on low for 1-2 hours.

I can't wait to try this out!

+ Sage is a super powerful oil, and just wanted to mention right away that it should be avoided if you have epilepsy, hypertension or are pregnant.

+ Sage has an earthy aroma and is known as ‘herba sacra’ or sacred herb by the ancient Romans. It’s been used historically to support dental health and glowing skin. You can also use sage to help balance and support hormones, as a stimulant to the circulatory system and gallbladder, a liver support and as a source of antioxidants.

+ Use sage if you need a little help combating mental fatigue. It calms during stressful situations and uplifts mood and emotions.

+ You can add some oils to a capsule to make this immune support supplement with all vitality oils: peppermint, clove, frankincense, lemon, tea tree, eucalyptus radiata and sage.

+ If you have the ‘regular’ (non vitality version) try making this liver support roller bottle: roman chamomile, carrot seed, sage, lemon, orange and bergamot.

S P E A R M I N T

+ Spearmint is pretty similar to peppermint, but a sightly gentler version. This is a great one to use on little tummies or those with more sensitive skin.

+ Peppermint and spearmint are both part of the same botanical family: Lamiaceae. Peppermint is higher in menthol which gives it that cool feeling on the skin, and spearmint is high in both carvone and limonene. Peppermint is more stimulating and energizing to the mind, while spearmint aids and supports emotional wellbeing.

+ Spearmint supports so many things in our bodies such as: digestion, metabolism, intestinal health, gallbladder, muscles, immunity, emotions, menstruation, the lymphatic system and nervous system.

+ Try out spearmint in this stomach supporting roller blend: grapefruit, lime and spearmint.

G E N T L E    B A B Y

+ This is one of my favorite blends! I don't have kids, and I'm not pregnant but this is still one of the most calming oils to me.

+ Gentle baby has some super chill oils in it: geranium, rosewood, coriander, palmarosa, lavender, yang ylang, roman chaomile, lemon, jasmine and rose.

+ This is the perfect oil to calm restless babies, promote sleep, and even sooth dry chapped skin. Throw a couple drops in their diffuser, rub some on little feet and tummies AND if you’re pregnant, try rolling some on those troublesome skin spots.

+ For an extra calming diffuser blend try: gentle baby, lavender and vetiver.

+ I keep a neat bottle of gentle baby by my bed and always bring a roller of it when I’m traveling!

C H R I S T M A S    S P I R I T

+ I do love some christmas spirit in the diffuser, especially around the holidays. Like I may or may not use it every single day cause it smells THAT good and is the perfect addition to any activity or gathering.

+ This festive blend has orange, cinnamon bark and northern lights black spruce. Super simple, but AMAZING!!!! This is a great oil to gift family and friends over the holidays and even if they don't have a diffuser yet, they can put a couple drops in a pot of hot water on the stove.

+ We already chatted about cinnamon bark and how it supports overall wellness, and orange supports mood. If you haven't learned much about northern lights black spruce yet, it supports the respiratory and nervous systems. It also helps to support emotions and bring feelings of balance and grounding. Any guys in your life will LOVE the manly smell that northern lights has!

+ I typically think of diffusing christmas spirit, but it would be an amazing wellness support all year around rubbed on the bottoms of your feet, along the spine and on your chest.

M E L R O S E

+ This is a newer oil to me and I so wish I would’ve discovered it sooner! It is a must have in your natural wellness arsenal. It has just four oils in it, but they are all rockstar oils individually.

+ Melrose is a blend of: rosemary, tea tree, clove and niaouli.
Melrose is high in the following consitutents: terpinen, eugenol, terpinolene, cineole and limonene. These components have powerful antioxidants, antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties!

+ You’ll want to grab some melrose to cleanse and support healing skin and damaged tissue. I actually just used a couple drops of melrose on a cut last week and it almost instantly made it feel so much better! When anything is going on with your skin, melrose is what you want on hand.

+ After swimming, or anytime there is discomfort in your ears, rub a couple drops diluted around (NOT INSIDE) your ears. You can also apply melrose on sunburned skin, on a flaky scalp and on blemishes!

G R O U N D I N G

+ This calming blend creates a feeling of solidarity and balance. Try using grounding when you're working through difficult emotions. It contains: white fir, spruce, ylang ylang, pine, cedarwood, angelica and juniper.

+ Each of these oils have such amazing benefits on their own, lets talk a little about each one:

-White Fir: helps create a feeling of empowerment

-Spruce: helps open and release emotional blocks

-Ylang Ylang: balances hormones and promotes relaxation

-Pine: energizes the body

-Cedarwood: stimulates the limbic part of the brain which deals with emotions

-Angelica: helps to work through traumatic memories and release negative feelings

-Juniper: elevates awareness

+ Try putting a couple drops of frankincense and grounding in the diffuser, or applying over your heart or on your wrists.

+ I LOVE oils that support emotions. I find myself using them throughout the day and feeling so much better once I have them on. All of us have emotions at one point or another and some of us are better than others at actively processing them. If you’re wanting to dive more into this area of oils, I would highly recommend checking out The Feelings Kit and doing the 30 day protocol, and also grabbing the following essential oils: Sara, Sacred Mountain, Highest Potential and Gratitude.

E X O D U S    I I

+ This spicy blend contains: olive oil, myrrh, casssia, cinnamon bark, calamus, hyssop, galbanum, spikenard and frankincense.

+ Try adding a couple drops to your diffuser, or a drop or two diluted to the bottoms of your feet. Exodus II has cleansing properties that are especially effective when applied to the bottoms of your feet.

+ I find it so cool when oils are referenced in the Bible, and multiple oils in this blend have scriptural references — Song of Solomon 1:13, Exodus 30:22-27 and Exodus 30:34 are a few! And some researchers even believe this blend of oils was used by Moses and Aaron to support the immune health of the Israelites.

B L A C K    P E P P E R

+ Black pepper has been used for years and years by several ancient civilizations — It was used for mummification, endurance, as treatment for digestive problems and used in place of gold or silver in trading.

+ This potent oil supports the nervous, endocrine, respiratory and digestive systems. It will feel a little uncomfortable on the skin if used without a carrier oil, so use a 1:1 dilution ratio. A great place to apply black pepper is the bottoms of the feet, especially on those with sensitive skin.

+ Try diffusing black pepper with bergamot, grapefruit and cedarwood.

+ Black pepper also comes in a vitality version. Try one drop of black pepper vitality and one drop of nutmeg vitality in a vegetable capsule, top it off with some carrier oil and swallow it like a normal supplement. This blend will bring lots of energy. You can also add black pepper vitality in marinades, meat rubs, in homemade salsa or guacamole or to flavor pasta or salads.

 E N D O F L E X    V I T A L I T Y

+ Endoflex vitality is a must have blend of: spearmint, sage, geranium, myrtle, nutmeg and german chamomile. I use this twice a day EVERY SINGLE DAY (along with progessence plus). Y’all it is a life saver!

+ Ok so endoflex is great at supporting hormones, boosting metabolism and vitality and curbing deep emotions. Here are some easy ways to incorporate it into your daily routine: add 1-2 drops to your Ningxia Red shot or a Ningxia Zyng, add a drop to a cup of tea, or 1 drop with some carrier oil to a gel capsule. If you wanted to get really fancy, add a drop of clove vitality to your capsule as well!

+ You can also snag a non vitality bottle, and pop a roller top on it — YL’s aroma glide fitments are THE BEST!!! My favorite application spot is twice a day over my thyroid (middle of your neck) but it's also super helpful to rub some on each side of your middle/lower back where your adrenal glands are located.

+ Next time your kiddo is struggling with some anger or deep emotions, try rolling some over their adrenal glands.

E N - R - G E E

+ This bright blend increases vitality, supports circulation and promotes alertness. It's a mix of: rosemary, juniper, lemongrass, nutmeg, idaho balsam fir, clove and black pepper.

+ En-R-Gee is great to throw in the diffuser first thing in the morning or on your wrists, the back of your neck or temples. It does have clove and black pepper which tend to be stronger oils, so a lot of people prefer to dilute this blend before applying.

+ This is amazing to have in your purse on the go, or maybe send a roller with your school aged children. Try this energizing diffuser blend when you need an afternoon pick up: en-r-gee, peppermint and cedarwood.

+ You can also make up this fun roller bottle. Add en-r-gee, peppermint and abundance to a 10ml roller and fill to the top with a carrier oil.

P U R I F I C A T I O N

+ Purification is such a versatile blend of: citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, tea tree, lavandin and myrtle. Seriously there are so many uses for purification, and I’m sure all of y’all have some genius ideas as well!

-Throw a few drops in the diffuser to get rid of stinky smells, or put a couple drops in shoes or trash cans.
-Put some on your wrists, feet and back of neck before going outside to keep the creepy crawlies away.
-Apply on your face, cuts, or bruises to support the appearance of healthy skin.
-Grab a small container, throw some baking soda and a few drops of purification in. Sprinkle it on your carpet and then vacuum it up.
-Rub on your throat or behind your ears if you begin to dip below the wellness line.
-Add a few drops to a cup of epsom salts for a soothing foot soak.
-Apply to a blister or bug bite
-Add a few drops in with your laundry detergent to freshen clothes.

+ This is an oil you don't want to run out of cause it's just so dang useful!!
