Hello Friends!!

Welcome to the class! I’m Sarah Ronk from Indiana. Long time oiler, first time Facebook class teacher. I’m an oil lady in the oily-world. I’ve been using Young Living oils, since before it was cool; back when it was for sure considered something unholy and mystical and member numbers were only 6 digits long.

My friend Jodi hooked me up with some Thieves during my first pregnancy back in 2007. I wanted to clean my house without harsh chemicals and these oils were exactly what I was looking for. I'm a little nerdy and read my first Reference Guide in 2011 and then there was no stopping me. The science and chemistry of these plants-turned-essential oil fascinate me. Fast forward a bunch, now my husband and I have five children, (Ages nearly 12 to 2 years old. ) all oily from before birth, the last 4 were lovely home water births. EO’s though labor and birth were a huge success! The Feelings Kit and Biblical Oils are my two favorite oil collections.

Introduction:

How can essential oils help with emotional support? Well, I’m glad you asked, and guessing that’s a big part of why you’re here.

Your nose is an external portion and extension of your brain. Our sense of smell works backwards from how our other senses function. First, it goes to the emotional part of the brain (limbic system), then to the logic portion. The other sense first go to the logic/rational section. This is why you often will smell something and it reminds you of a past memory. (For example grandma’s baking, new school supplies, old library books.)

Why does this matter? Emotions are stored in our Limbic System, to release those negative stored emotions we use our sense of smell. Emotions and feelings are very REAL. We all know that when our feelings get hurt we might have a physical feeling as well. Stuffing emotions them, ignoring them, dismissing them do not make them go away. They become part of us and are stored in our cell memory. Even the emotions and feelings you’ve stuff down deep are still there.

For more on this check out some of Dr. Caroline Leaf’s books or her podcast. The Essential Oil Desk Reference also has a chapter on oils for Spiritual, Mental and Emotional Support.

Feelings

The Feelings Kit was put together for a specific purpose - to help with emotional support, dealing with feelings that are hard to deal with on your own, and addressing unwelcomed negativity and hurt that’s hindering your emotional state.

This oil collection we are discussing tonight contains 6 oil blends: Harmony, Forgiveness, Inner Child, Present Time, Release, and Valor.

These oils are for support, working with a mental health professional for treatment is always recommended.

Personally, I used these in conjunction with prayer and Scripture. If you’re interested in the Bible verses I use with each oil, you can check out this google doc.

Do you already own this collection or any of the individual oils from it? (If not, you are in for a TREAT!)

How these oils have helped me:

My first experience with this collection was in 2016 in a class at Jodi’s house with a breeze from the open windows, the light low, and soft music playing as she explained a little about each oil, passed them around, and instructed us where to apply them then to inhale deeply from our cupped hands as we waited for the next oil.

It became the most extreme oil testimony I personally experienced. I walked into that class a year after having left our church after some trauma, but my head still swam with questions of why and how that all had happened. It was all consuming. I left that class having released the oppression and with new hope for the future. It didn’t take away the abusive experience, but it helped me leave it in the past and not continue to carry it with me daily.

Not all negative emotions are equal and we can’t compare those with others, but raise you’re hand if you’d like to release those emotions you’re through hanging onto! 🙋‍♀️

Forgiveness

Forgiveness, the act, is a big part of emotional healing and being able to navigate feelings.

The blend Forgiveness contains some awesome and powerful single oils: Melissa, Geranium, Frankincense, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Coriander, Angelica, Lavender, Lemon, Ylang ylang, Jasmine, Helichrysum, Roman chamomile, and Rose (it also contains the carrier oil sesame see oil)

How to use: After inhaling or diffusing them, emotional supporting oils always work well applied to and around your ear. (not in your ears) Check your reference guide for the vitaflex ear chart.

Years ago Gary Young created a 30 day Feelings Kit challenge and in it instructed to put Forgiveness around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times as you think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others.

I say apply it where you’d like, but breathe it in deep most importantly.

Harmony

As you’re on your path to emotional healing, living in harmony with yourself and others is vital so you can avoid extra negative feelings and thoughts adding on, and especially since others can help you along your journey.

Harmony contains the most lovely list of single oils: Sacred Sandalwood, Lavender, Ylang ylang, Frankincense, Orange, Angelica, Geranium, Hyssop, Spanish Sage, Black spruce, Coriander, (Furocoumarin-free) Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, Roman chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose.

How to use: This is one of our family favorite oils, the kids especially love it. Although it does contain “flowery” oils it isn’t overpowering and works great to diffuse in their bedrooms at night with lavender.

Harmony and Forgiveness work well together. If you’d like to make a roller blend that combines the two - add 5-10 drops of each to a roller and fill the rest with V-6 or your carrier oils of preference.

Did you see Young Living now has rollers?! (squeeeel!!) Check them out!

Inner Child

Sometimes when dealing with emotions and negative feelings, your true self can get lost.

Inner Child contains: Orange, Tangerine, Ylang ylang, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Jasmine, Lemongrass, Spruce, and Bitter Orange.

How to use? This is another good oil to apply topically around and on your ears. (not in the ear.)

How to diffuse: Citrus Fresh pairs very nicely with Inner Child in the diffuser. And bonus… it’s also in the Premium Starter Kit. Orange and Tangerine are also in the blend Citrus Fresh and those citrus oils are know for they most boosting qualities. Citrus oils are some of the least expensive oils and always a crowd pleasers. They say Orange is the happiest oil.

Do you have a favorite citrus oil? (Mine is Bergamot and Orange!)

Present Time

Dwelling on the past can be one of the biggest hindrances to moving forward with your emotional healing and life.

Present Time alone is $89.00. So this is just a friendly *PRO TIP* reminder: these collections are a GREAT DEAL! This blend only contains only a few oils: Bitter Orange, Black Spruce, Ylang ylang, and the carrier oil Almond oil but the combination is better than you could imagine if you haven’t smelled it. This is what I call a “jump in the bottle” oil, because as you could guess, I’d love to jump in and swim around!!

Quick time out to talk about diffusers. This is a lovely blend to diffuse but it contains a carrier oil = which is a fatty oil. Some essential oils are very thick (Vetiver and Cinnamon Bark come to mind.) so are carrier oils. If you diffuse these just remember you may need to wipe out your diffuser. Most diffuser come with instruction on cleaning, so directly check that out. But, I’ve personally had good success with adding a little white vinegar and letting it sit for 20 minutes, then wiping and rinsing it out.

Diffuse or not to diffuse? I don’t often choose to diffuse the pricey oils, but when I do my rule of thumb is to add a few more drops of an oil that is already in that blend. I’ve always got Orange and Northern Lights Black Spruce on hand so I stretch a few drops of Present Time with a few drops more of each of those two oils.

Release

Past events can leave their mark with negative feelings, memories, and emotions, leading to anger and frustration, so it’s not only important to be present, but also to let go of the past.

Release was designed to help people let go of the anger and frustrations from the past - Release contains these amazing oils (including a newly released single!!): Ylang ylang, Lavandin, Geranium, Royal Hawaiian sandalwood, Grapefuit, Tangerine, Spearmint, Lemon, Blue cypress, Davana, Kaffir lime, Pcotea, Jasmine, Matricaria, Blue tansy, and rose.

How to use: Release also promotes harmony while diffused - I love diffusing this with equal parts blue cypress and grapefruit. To use topically apply to the liver.

Bonus tip: They say use what you have... so I did and it worked. Let's just say this one is great if you have a little one who needs to used the bathroom but is having some trouble... apple Release to they belly. Then have a diaper and bathroom handy, stat!

Valor

As you move forward and start feeling like your past is behind you and you’re living in the present, gaining self confidence and feeling like you can tackle the future is the next big step.

Valor promotes feelings of confidence and peace and contains the single oils Black spruce, Camphor, Blue tansy, Frankincense, and Geranium.

I wear this nearly every day topically with Peace and Calming. It’s also a lovely combination for children to wear as well.

I don’t diffuse this very often because I love to wear it, but I add equal parts Northern Lights Black Spruce.

Did you know that NLBS is sometimes called the Frankincense of North America?

Enhancing the Feelings Kit with Starter Kit Oils

The Premium Starter Kit is beneficial in everyday life and contains many oils that can help enhance the experience of the Feelings Kit.

Frankincense, Citrus Fresh, and Lavender can all be diffused by themselves when you’re not diffusing one of the blends from the Feelings Kit, or they can be added to the diffuser with some of those blends as I’ve mentioned.

Lemon Vitality and Peppermint Vitality can be taken for keeping your energy levels up as dealing with emotions can wear on you physically, but they also help with mental clarity.

Stress Away is another crowd pleaser and often one to just pop on that AromaGlide™ Roller Fitment (that also comes in your PSK) and use immediately!

Stress Away, Frankincense, and Valor are a great trio for kids heading back to school, for a busy day at home, or an intense day at the office. *PRO TIP* Your body will use up oils applied topically in about 2.5hrs so reapply then if needed.

Recap and other ways to use this kit:

As a “raindrop” - This one is FABULOUS! Have someone drip a few drops down your spine and massage them in.

In a massage - bring the oils to a massage therapist to use on you.

A feelings kit bath! - This another AMAZING way to use the feelings kit oils! (1-2 drops of each in a cup of epsom salt OR baking soda … if you do epsom salt remember to rinse it off after the bath. If you’ve never used oils in a bath do not use this much oil! Start with mixing it all up in a jar and only using a little of the “mix” at each bath. And ALWAYS bring water to drink (and drink it!) when taking a bath with oils.

Wear an oil, one at a time as a perfume or in a diffuser necklace.

Diffuse one at at time (change to the next oil, daily or maybe weekly. Whatever you feel you need.)

With the 30 day challenge written by Gary Young (or 3, or 7 or 10 days in a row….) I’ve noticed a considerable difference (in a very positive way) if I go through the 6 oils very slowly.

Slow and deliberate: If I have time I love to spend 10-20 minutes on each oil. Yes. That's not a typo. I often listen to one song per oil. (Gary’s challenge is to use all 6 oils morning and night for 30 days. Highly recommend.)

Recap

The whole journey of emotional support and healing with the support of the Feelings kit doesn’t have a exact time frame. Maybe you used these oils once and feel a change. Maybe you use up the entire kit. Maybe, like me, you used these fairly regularly.

As I mentioned before oils are therapeutic and made for regular use. This collection is great to maintain healthy emotions as well as to release stored emotions.

Essential oils will be in every. cell. of our bodies in a short 20 minutes. And only 22 seconds for it to reach our brain when we inhale them! So If you take anything away tonight remember to smell these oils. Emotional supporting oils work best to release those stored emotions through the power of your sense of smell.
