Production of 'Rough cut'

After consulting the edit decision list we imported the chosen files and trimmed them with the blade tool to ensure it fit together with the next shot in our time frame.

We then added a clip of a vox pop and used the same blade tool to cut out the question which is conventional of TV documentaries.

We repeated this process for the rest of our voxpops, in total the sequence lasted approximately 13 seconds.

We left a gap to put our currently incomplete opening titles, we then began assembling our first montage using various clips from the additional cutaways we filmed.

We then used the best answers from the voxpop which are short and snappy to be interesting to the viewer.

For our first interview we added an establishing shot of the location (Bernardo's) so that it would make sense to the viewer, using the blade tool to cut the length appropriately.

Using the blade tool we cut out the questions of the interview and cut out the questions we considered relevant.

Next, we layered relevant cutaways over the interview so that the screen would cut to a shot of the contents of the shop whilst the interviewee was talking, this is also used so that we could cut out the questions being asked.

We repeated this process using a clipfrom another interview which had a similar answer to our previous shot. We used our layering of cutaways to transistion each interview.

We used one more similar answer before moving on to the next part of the documentary, we did this by creating another montage by inserting various clips and using the blade tool to shorten them.

Next we showed a clip of the pub interview alongside different layers showing cutaways relevant to the topic of the interview.

We then added establishing shots for our next interview with Phil Chadwich, we cut them down using the blade tool.

We structured the interview like the others; we layered the interview with relevant cutaways, we cut the framing of the interview as we did not have relevant mise en scene, we did this by double clicking the preview window and dragging the corners of the screen to change the frame from a medium close up to a close up.

We added other parts of the interviews alongside relevant cutaways, we then left space for our final establishing shot before having our final chosen interview which used cutaways to edit out the questions.
