Myths and Realities

At times our thoughts around Diversity and Inclusion operate around some deeply engrained myths.

The first active awareness step that we can do is

to contrast our Myths with Realities.

Diversity is about the 'OTHER' and their identity.

Diversity is about US and our identities.

MYTH:

REALITY:

The more we are Knowing about “Them”

the more diverse we are.

The more we are Knowing Ourselves

the easier it becomes to understand others.

MYTH:

REALITY:

Representation is already taking care

of Diversity and Inclusion.

Representation is important,

but Belonging is essential.

MYTH:

REALITY:

Exposure to people different

from us is enough to bridge the gap.

Being inclusive requires Actions that deepen exposure: intentionality, practice, and openness to change.

MYTH:

REALITY:

Inner Illusion: If it’s not a problem for us then it does not effect us.

Outer Reality: Society is a web of interconnections.

A problem for one is effecting us all.
