The untouchables

This is the lowest social class in India. It is what Gandhi strived to fix in India.

Cons

  • Used as slaves
  • No access to public areas
  • Segregation in schools, restaurants, bathrooms, etc.
  • Separate burial grounds
  • Forced to live in poverty

Shudras

This is the class above the untouchables, while untouchables are the people who live in poverty and are discriminated, the Sudras are what we might think of as the "peasants".

Cons

  • This group is the basic worker
  • Includes artisans and labourers
  • The  Shudra serve the higher classes above them

pros

  • You won't be discriminated like the untouchables are. You just have to live the life of working to make money to feed your family

VaisHyas

These are more higher class than the common workers

How they work:

  • Vaishyas are landowners, traders, and money-lenders
  • Instead of doing work, they manage work or work with business and economics
  • The Vaishya traders are responsible for spreading the Indian culture to regions like southeast Asia

KSHATRIYA

This is the "protector of society"

How they work

  • These people fight when war is upon them
  • During times of peace however, they help govern India
  • This is the "warrior" class in Europe's feudal system

Brahmins

This is the highest class of India.

How they work

  • If you are part of the Brahmins, you are in the highest working class
  • These people are priests, teachers, and artists
