Requirements

Points

  • 7 points due December 10th
  • All unfinished points will be added to next semester's requirement but doubled (and you will receive a demerit)
  • Seniors:
    • If you are applying for the scholarship, you must complete all points AND have 0 demerits over the past 2 years
    • If not, you still need to complete points in order to receive a cord and receive 2 or fewer demerits this year

Opportunities

  • A-hall Tutoring
  • Math practice attendance (1-1.5 points each)
  • After-meeting team contest!
  • 3-4 Page Study guides over a pre-approved math topic (email us beforehand with your idea!)
  • Evan Chen Guest Lecture (yesterday)

Demerits

  • Reminder: Members will receive demerits for unexcused/excessive absences, failure to meet grade requirements, failure to complete hours, general misconduct, dishonesty
  • Any questions regarding demerits or membership status can be directed to us via e-mail
  • Seniors: You must have 2 or less demerits this year in order to receive a chord

Senior Scholarships

  • More information and application will be sent out next semester
  • Scholarships of up to 500 dollars
  • Must have completed all your points and have no demerits for the past two years
  • Application will be due in the spring, and we will hold interviews with eligible candidates

Upcoming Competitions

University of Houston Math Contest

  • Date: January 29, sign up by January 14
  • Points: 1.5
  • Online, 1 hour per test
  • Pick up to 2 tests
    • ​One of Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus at most
    • And one of Number Sense, Calculator, Physics, Calculus, Statistics

RCML Round 1

  • Date: January 19th
  • Points: 1
  • 30 minute test 
  • 10 questions 
  • 5 divisions: the division you choose has to be your current math class or a higher-level course
    • Pre-Algebra (Explorer)
    • Algebra (Mercury)
    • Geometry (Gemini)
    • Algebra II (Apollo)
    • Precalculus or above (Discovery)

USAMTS Round 3

  • Due: 1/4
  • Five problems that must be given justification and reasoning
  • The problem difficulty ranges from being within the reach of most high school students to challenging some of the best students in the nation
  • Students may use any materials but all the work must be their OWN

DHS Integration Bee

  • 12/8
  • 1 pt for participating
  • Questions will cover Calc BC topics like u-substitution, IBP, and trig alongside a few challenge integrals.
  • There will be two parts: Qualifying exam will be on wednesday and the Bee will take place next semester 
  • Winners will receive prizes
