November MEETING

Important Information
- Dues and the General Membership Form were due on 9/16.
- If you didn't pay dues on Revtrak, then you can pay in cash or check to Dr. Hren
- Reminder: Seniors must have 0 demerits throughout the year to be eligible for scholarships!
- This year, all monthly meetings are mandatory! If you can't make a meeting, email us at least 24 hours in advance with a valid excuse.
- Attending only the meeting isn't worth any points, but attending the activity after the afternoon meeting will give you 0.5 points!
- Math Bash - March 4th

Points and Volunteering
- 7 points are required this semester
- Points can be fulfilled through:
- After Meeting Activities
- Competitions
- A-hall tutoring
- 1 hour is required, but you can do more!
- Attending FMPs
- Complete a substantial work of math on your own (email for approval before you work on it) Ex.
- Study guide over a math topic
- Proposing FMP Curricula

A Hall Tutoring
- 1 hour of A Hall tutoring is required per semester.
- To tutor:
- Ask your teacher if they are free and need help on a specific day

Texas A&M University Math Contest
Points: 3
Saturday, November 12, 2022
For those of you who signed up:
- We are providing a bus to the competition
- Be at the school by 6:55 AM
- We will be back around 5 PM
- More information about the schedule will be sent out closer to the date.

RCML Fall
Points: 1 point for participating

Will be held in person after school on November 17th from 3 to 3:30 PM at Dr. Hren's Room (A208).

Interschool contest, so one team of 10 students will be made. First come first serve, so if you want to participate, sign up quickly.

University of Houston
Points: 1 point for each test taken

Will be held online on zoom on January 28, 2023

You can take as many tests as you want as long as the times don't conflict. The Algebra 1 to Calculus tests won't conflict with the other tests.

You can only take the regular subject test for the class that you are currently taking at school. (If you are in a math class above calculus, take calculus)

Houston INTEGIRLS
Points: 1 point for each test taken
- The contest will take place virtually on November 19, 2022
- The contest is open to all female and non-binary students
- Winners will receive cash and gift cards

UIL and TMSCA
Points: 1 point for taking each test
- There are three math tests for UIL and TMSCA
- Number Sense: 80 questions, 10 minutes, all mental math
- Calculator: 70 questions, 30 minutes
- General Math: 60 questions, 40 minutes
- Teams will be decided next semester.
- UIL Invitational A is on January 14, and Invitational B is on February 11. FMPs in January will introduce UIL tests.

Friday Math Practices
- Our last FMP for this semester will be on November 11th! We are planning a fun activity :)
- FMPs are worth 1-1.5 points, depending on your participation!
- Next semester, we will have FMPs focused on UIL/TMSCA and also some interesting math topics!

Math and Science Night
Friday, November 18th 2022

- In partnership with SNHS and SciNOW, we will host a Math and Science Night for elementary and middle schoolers in FBISD
- 3.5 points for making a booth & being present for the entire event, 2.5 points for just making a booth, 1 point max for donating concessions
- Total points are capped at 4.
- Participation is mandatory for all members in MAO :)
- You can volunteer by helping tear down, host a booth, make posters, donate food/materials
- You can double dip points with SNHS and SciNOW! We will award points based on the MAO guidelines, not the guidelines of other clubs.
Don't forget to check our website for info! & if you are not receiving emails, make sure to contact us so we can get that fixed ASAP. :)
