Music video planning

Equipment, construction of mise-en-scene and casting.

Camera

One piece of equipment that I will be using when filming is either the Fuji FinePix HS50EXR or the Sony HDR-CX320E. I will most likely use the Sony camera only because I've used it in the past and I've got experience using it. I may using the Fuji camera when taking pictures for my digipak.

Go-pro

I would also like to use a GoPro camera when filming, especially to get some moving actions shots of the characters in the forest.

Gimbal

Using a Gimbal would be ideal as it would stabilise the camera while I do some handheld shooting without camera vibration or shakiness.

Jib

As Jibs are commonly used for filming high shots, I plan to use this piece of equipment when I film some high shots in the forest.

Tripod

I would also like to use a Tripod because it supports the weight of the camera as well as maintaining the stability of it. It will also prevent any unwanted movement.

Construction of mise-en-scene (props)

  • Alice In Wonderland signs - these would be situated around the forest on trees as it fits with the Alice In Wonderland themes.
  • Clocks - you should be able to see these scattered around the forest as it's seen in Alice In Wonderland but it also symbolises how fast things develop between the two characters in a short space of time.
  • Tea party items (teapot, teacups etc)

Construction of the mies-en-scene (costumes)

For the first part of the music video, I'm going to have my characters all wear casual clothing as they'll all be just hanging out with their friends. By casual I mean jeans, t-shirt, jacket etc.

Construction of the mies-en-scene (costumes)

For the other half of the music video, I think I'm going to have my characters possibly dressed in Alice In Wonderland costumes or clothing that somehow brings to mind that it's obvious my music video is referring to Alice In Wonderland.

Construction of the mies-en-scene (lighting)

I plan to have natural lighting for my music video as all of the music video is set outside. The first half of the video will be late in the day so the lighting may be darker than the second half of the music video as that will be filmed in the middle of the day.

Construction of the mies-en-scene (locations)

As I've mentioned a few times, there is two parts to my music video as it shifts to a different plot. The first half is two groups of friends hanging out and two people bump into one another unintentionally. The location will be somewhere you would see teenagers so I've chosen a cinema

Construction of the mies-en-scene (locations)

The second half of my music video is the same two people that bumped into each other in a forest and they're dressed like Alice In Wonderland characters. I chose a forest for this section of my music video because a forest is used similarly in the actual story.
